The story behind the Challenge

Moises and I are very different. We have 11 years of age difference, he's born and raised in Mexico, I am born and raised in Ottawa.
He's an early bird, full time busy professional often traveling for work...I am a night owl, full time student, juggling with work and school.
But one thing we do have in common, is fitness.

We both like to workout whenever we can. But when do we make time for our relationship ?
That's when we created TheCoupleChallenge. We found a way to make the best out of our different lifestyles by competing with fun challenges during the week.
Whoever had the highest fitness score would choose our date from a selection of activities we prepared beforehand. (''Together Time''). And because we also have different budgets, we made sure that our Together Time were budget friendly (most of them are free or cheap, just need to get creative!)

Let's say it's STEP WEEK. This is actually my favorite challenge to compete because I love walking to work, to school and to the gym, but Moises prefers to drive wherever he has to go, and complete his steps on the treadmill. We are very competitive so it's always interesting to see who wins with our different strategies.

When it's SLEEP week, Moises makes an effort to sleep more, but he's an early bird and usually sleep 4-5hrs each night. My ADHD makes it more difficult to have a restful night, but we know sleep is important for a good recovery and overall health so when we have that weekly challenge we snooze to get the highest score 😀

It's fun that we found a way to spend more time together with a fun healthy competition. It helps us stay motivated because we are so competitive, we are healthier,we are spend quality time together every week with our TOGETHER TIME, and it breaks our routine.

We thought that other Couple's might enjoy this CoupleChallenge so we worked hard to make it available for you.
We hope you have as much fun as we do. And yes, we are still competing every week!

” Do something that you used to enjoy together, and do it‘‘

When we started dating, we used to go for coffee dates every morning for months, at a little coffee shop next to Moise's condo.

Then, we got busy with our routine and we started to drink coffee from home.

With our different schedular, we don't even take the time to sit down and enjoy the homemade coffee together.

But, thanks to the Romantic Reward of the week, we decided to go this morning to enjoy some time together, and we had so much fun telling each other throwbacks from when we started dating, it reminded us that we still love each other as much as the very first day.

' Try a new activity that is out of your comfort zone ''

We've been talking over a year about trying airguns, but we never actually made plans to go. Moises got the Romantic Reward ” Try a new activity that is out of your comfort zone”, and looked on Tuango for inspirations. He then saw a coupon for Tir_du_Soleil, which is a air gun recreational shooting sport center in Montréal., and he remembered that we both wanted to try it. He booked us right away and we went a few days later. It’s tougher than it seems! I was not very good, but Moises was hitting his targets!

”Plan a romantic weekend get away”

How convenient that this Together Time was in our Selection around Valentine's day!? 😀 We drove a few hours to go to Pont Rouge, Qc! We spent the weekend there, we tried Dog sledding, and this picture was taken after 2 hours of snowshoeing! We ending up having no internet, but we spent most of our time outside so that was fine!”

”Make a bucket list of 15 things you want to do together before you die, and cross one thing of the list”

Delphine lost step week, and the Romantic Reward she picked was to make a bucket list. One of the thing she put on the list, was to eat a beavertail and go ice skating . She told me that it used to be a family tradition; when she was a kid her parents would take her siblings and her to ice skate @ Rideau Canal Ontario, and all along the skateway there were Beaver Tail Stands. Since it’s winter in Canada, we were able to cross that thing off @ Old Port Skating Rink.

Oh and , Delphine looks upset on the last picture , but I can assure you she was very happy! Before we got to the skating rink, we walked 15mins to find the beaver tail shop in Old port, and she wanted to eat the beaver tail right away but I wanted to take a picture, so this is the result!

Side note, she doesn’t eat gluten and we don’t eat sugar because I am diabetic #1, and we were Keto at the time, but as she says; ” YOLO”! (You Only Live Once)
